Losing weight: a healthy alternative to Erectile Dysfunction!
Posted on sep 2011
A recent study revealed that men who suffer from diabetes 2 and facing erectile dysfunction problems can significantly improve this situation by losing weight. It is only required to lose a few pounds, but it is definitely worth it since they can once again enjoy a normal sexual life.
The study was conducted by Garry Witter from the University of Adelaide in Australia who says that: "The evidence that improvement can be achieved by modest weight loss [...] is of public health significance in framing public health messages that resonate with men." However, in order to be sure this alternative does actually work, it is required to be followed a high quality nutritional diet.
The results of this study were based on the 8 weeks campaign during which a number of 31 obese men suffering from diabetes type 2 participated. Their diet was changed and improved with a low-calorie diet and high in proteins to reduce the normal eating consumption with 600 calories on a daily basis.
Over time, besides a 5% decrease in weight there were significant improvements in the following areas: urinary problems decreased, sex drive increased, erectile dysfunction problems decreased. These improvements were maintained over the next 6 months after the study was finalized. This proves that the ED condition for men with diabetes is rather complex and involved complications in muscle function and blood vessels.
Moreover, this study proves the impact of diet on the overall body health, whether it is diabetes, ED, or both. Another diet factor which influences ED is alcohol. It affects the blood vessels and can worsen the ED condition. Stress has the same negative influence when it comes to erectile dysfunction.
Apart from diet, regular exercises are even a more healthy solution for ED as well reducing stress. This improved the day-to-day mood and energy level. Depending on each person's motivation and ambition to eliminate ED problems, there are various safe ways to fulfill this objective.
Another flexible yet more expensive alternative to diet is represented by the prescription medication such as: Viagra (Sildenafil). Cialis (Tadafil) or Levitra (Vardenafil). But since some of these solutions are not recommended for men with diabetes, the diet remains one of the safest and most effective solutions.
